These tiny little bullets filled with bold colour are a staple in every woman’s bag.
Whether you’re a girl who opts for a barely-there or nude tone or maybe you’re all about big and bold, lipstick is every girls BF!
In honour of National Lipstick Day I wanted to share just a few of my fave tubes. I’ve built quite the collection over the years but like shoes, you can never have too many.
One of my all-time favourite brands is MAC. One particular reason I love MAC is because it was founded in Toronto!! WOOT WOOT! But also because of the variety of colours and finishes they offer. After trying almost every finish I find Lustre works best on my lips. The pigment is just enough and the smooth, light feeling it leaves works best for everyday!
Lustre: SHY SHINE A84
Perfect everyday shade. Not too much colour, just enough for a day at the office. One of the few shades I don’t leave the house without because it works with EVERYTHING.
Frost: VIVA GLAM RIHANNA AA3
When I’m feeling daring I whip the Viva Glam out. The red is so rich and with the tiny bit of shimmer this shade looks best for a night on the town. I don’t always rock a red lip, but when I do it’s this one!
Frost: COSTA CHIC A80
Absolutely love this colour when my skin is golden brown. Because it is much brighter, I find wearing it with nudes and whites make it stand out in the best way. Looks cute on the beach too!
Both of these brands are fab! I love a nice dark lip and tend to wear these most when going out at night. These shades scream classy but sassy! LOL
Smashbox: Be Legendary Lipstick; Cognac
Funny story with this, I actually left the house without lipstick and was on my way to dinner. I ran into Shoppers Drug Mart and told the MUA I need a dark shade FAST. She ran to grab this one, I tried it on and fell in love. The texture is heavier and more matte than what I usually wear but it works well at night. I usually throw a gloss on top to give it extra shine.
Arbonne: Smoothed Over Lipstick; Lotus
The colour got me on this one. A bit of purple and I was sold. I’m new to the Arbonne world and this was one of my first purchases. I like this tube because it’s plant-based and feels great on. No bad sh*t in here.
Yves Saint Laurent is at the top of my list. A more pricier tube, but worth every penny. From the way it goes on, to the scent and the pigment, YSL seriously kills the game when it comes to lipstick. I’m not one for heavy lips so YSL does the trick for me. It even tastes great!
YSL: Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick; Pink in Paris #13
Love this colour for the fall, it’s warm and fuzzy and works well with casual outfits. It was my first designer lipstick, so it holds a soft spot in my heart.
YSL: Volupte Sher Candy: Glossy Balm Crystal Colour: Lush Coconut #1
Let’s just say I don’t leave the house without this one. It’s perfect for anytime, anywhere. My boyfriend likes this one too because it doesn’t leave any evidence when I smoother him in kisses.
YSL: Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick; Nude in Private #9
Another perfect shade for the fall. A little darker than the first but really brightens up my face. The light gloss and shine work really well with simple makeup looks. Another great everyday shade.
