#LeonsHelloHoliday Crafternoon

There’s nothing like getting into the holiday spirit then with some festive DIY projects!

I had the pleasure to attend Leons Hello Holiday Crafternoon at The Gladstone Hotel last night to put my creativity to work. An evening full of mingling, hot chocolate and serious concentration to create unique, fun and easy gift ideas for your family and friends this season.

Take a look at some of these great projects I worked on. I was thinking of giving these lovely gifts away but I think I might just keep them for myself, they’re just too cute!

Filling this mason jar with dried cranberries, shaved coconut and nutmeg, peppermint sticks and pine needles and wrapping it with some twine and ribbon can be a perfect gift for someone who enjoys warm, rich scents during the holiday season. Let the contents of the mason jar simmer in a pot with water and let the beautiful aroma fill the air.

DIY Bath Bombs- Hosted by Kassandra Dekoning from Little Dekonings

img_5880Another great idea for someone who enjoys fresh and uplifting smells. Perfect for the friend who takes long, luxurious baths, these bath bombs are simple and fun to make. Mixing water, baking soda, citric acid and essential oils like lavender, peppermint or orange as well as adding in some food colouring, Himalayan sea salt and dried flower petals, creates your perfect personalized scent. Then pack these bombs nice and tight and wait for them to dry. Place them in a mason jar for a cute stocking stuffer this season.

Everyone loves topping off their excellent gift wrapping with bows, but why not create some special toppers that will really make your present stand out under the tree. It can be as simple as glitter stars or as interesting as gold pine cones. This DIY project is one where your creativity really leads the way. Using festive paper, cut out different shapes for gift tags, loop them with twine or festive ribbon and add some fun holiday decorations. Cute little balls, pine cones or snowflakes will really add some holiday spirit to your tags. Take a look around your house to see what you have lying around to make these toppers unique, you’d be surprised to see what you can come up with.

After attending this event I realized that giving a gift of something hand-made, stuffed with love can be such a lovely and thoughtful gesture. Not every gift you give this year has to be an expensive new scarf or a shiny new bracelet, it can be something from the heart that will be fun to make and appreciated so much more!
