Wedding Season has arrived! We all love attending weddings, enjoying the food and dancing the night away right? I DO! But sometimes prepping for the day can be over whelming, not to mention expensive.
Considering I have 6 out the 9 weddings I was invited to this year to still attend, I realized that I can’t get my hair and make up done (plus a new dress plus shoes plus a gift and the list goes on) for each one, which is why I decided to cut my costs and do a few things myself. I wanted to share with you some of my wedding prep insight that won’t break the bank and could actually be fun to do!
I’m a sucker for sun kissed skin but who can afford let alone have the time to travel somewhere tropical before each wedding? For the first time in many years I got a spray tan and actually really liked it!
Monaco Sun offers Organic Spray Tans which are a great way to get that boost of colour you need to glow. Each spray tan is personalized for the client and is made with natural ingredients as well as high levels of antioxidants that helps to keep your tan glowing and fresh while keeping your skin moisturized.
Monaco Sun ensures that their solutions are nut-free, free from alcohoL and harsh chemicals and are vegan friendly! I know many people are sceptical about spray tans because of the fear of being orange, but I can confidently say orange is not a colour you will see. I found that my colour was it’s best after the first wash and end of day as it really set into my skin and gave it a natural look!
Time for the makeup! I’m the first person to say how much I love getting my makeup done, but sometimes it’s just not feasible! Which is why I’m going to share some of my favourite products and tips!
Priming your face is always a must! I love Maybelline’s FaceStudio Master Prime to keep my makeup looking fresh all night. Then I use this little wand of amaziness from Charlotte Tilbury under my eyes. The Mini Miracle Eye Wand is a two step process that ensures your skin is moisturized and hydrated and then adds the colour you need to correct any dark circles, bags, etc.
I would consider my face to be pretty clear but I do struggle with uneven skin tone. I use the NARS Radiant Cream Concealer to fix all of these little issues and create an even canvas to work with. Depending on the occasion my full face makeup changes between a liquid foundation and a bb cream both from Physicians Formula, available at most drug stores. For the wedding I opted for the Nude Wear Touch of Glow Foundation that provides great long lasting coverage and topped it off with the Super BB #InstaReady Filter BB Bronzer.
I wanted to create a smokey eye that wasn’t too dramatic which is why I went with the Uptown Girl palette from Charlotte Tilbury. I was curious to see how the deep purple would work with the shimmery pink. I found that the colours complimented each other really well and still gave me that sexy smokey eye look that I wanted with a touch of glam. This smokey eye look was a bit more playful, which I loved. It’s also worth mentioning that the pigment in the eyeshadow is fantastic, it lasted all night!
I used the Rock ‘N’ Kohl Eyeliner on my lid to amp up the smokey eye. Using a brush I worked into my lash line to give a more blended look. I also used a bit under my eye and in the waterline.
A bit of contour and highlighting is a must for me! I love this Quo Contour Kit because it is just so easy to use. I like to use just a bit of the bronzer on my cheekbone and jawline. To add some highlight I really like using The Revlon Photoready Insta-fix Highlighting Stick. Just smooth it on under your eye and work it into your skin to get a nice glowing finish.
I’ve always had issues finding a mascara that adds thickness and length to my lashes, but I think I am finally in luck! The Full Fat Lashes from Charlotte Tilbury gives your the right amount of thickness and added length without clumps! I only needed to apply a few strokes and my lashes were good to go!
Lastly, the lips. Because I put a lot of emphasis on my eyes I decided to go with a more neutral subtle tone for my lips. The Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama from NARS is one of my faves. Goes on smooth, lasts a long time and never bunches up and looks gross.
Here’s a glimpse at my final look for the evening. I must say I impressed myself! It helps when you have some great products to work with!
